In todays lesson, we did our practice film, where we were given the task of filming a short scene in which someone walks into a room, and shares a few lines of conversation with someone else. We had to include three filming elements: Match Cuts, Shot/Reverse Shot and keeping to the 180 Degree Rule. I worked with Nasima and Layla which was good because it was the first time my group had worked properly together, because it was the first time we were all in. It was simple filming, just done in the school hall/cafeteria.

Most of our class had planned their short film in the class before, however, as Nasima and I had to miss the lesson due to an exam, we had to spend the first part of the lesson planning with Layla and learning the meaning of the three filming elements. This wasn't the best thing for us, as it took up a lot of time, leaving us less time than others to film, which put us under a bit of pressure. We finished shooting with just fifteen minutes to upload the video and attempt to edit it all together. Of course, we didn't finish. We will have to go to a media workshop at lunch to finish the video, but it's no sacrifice. We will hopefully be able to finish it in one lunch time. I learnt that filming is a lot harder than I thought it would be - but part of me thinks that the reason is because the acting made it hard to keep a straight face. We laughed so much during filming. In the thriller film, there will only be one actor, which will hopefully help with the laughter, and the fact that we were working in the cafeteria with a lot of people around made it very uncomfortable. In the thriller, there will be no talking - and there will be no words!

We did learn a lot from filming - but the most important thing that I learnt was that the three of us think the same, have the same ideas, and work well together - which i'm very pleased with. I'm really anxious to start filming the thriller now!
