sound

in todays lesson we were in the one of the apple mac rooms, on the computers we went on to a casino royal sound software.
while we were on this we watched vidoes of the sound editiors and the people who create the sound and music, talking about how the best way to make music for film. i learnt from the editiors, that sometimes to much sound and s music can sound like rubbish, they said it is better ot pick the details of the sound.

After watching these clips we had 2 tasks which were linked to the film. The first task was to use the given sounds and music and to create the sound for a still image from Casino Royale. There were 4 shots, outside the casino with a busy street, inside the casino, army in a hot, humid country, and a river shot.
After the still images we went and saw few more footages of the sound editors and sound crew of Casino Royale. The next task was to put sound and music onto a moving scene from the film. I chose the airport scene were James Bond is chasing after the truck. Using the different sound and effect given by the programme were limited but I think at the end of it I got the gist of how to make sound go with the moving image. However it was quite difficult to get the sounds and effects to go with the shot in a specific time.
We then had to put this practise onto the small film we did before the holidays. Choosing and making original music for the clip was quite difficult because there was many sounds I could have chosen and there was a lot to go through. I used different instruments, music and layered them up so they would create a new piece of music. I shortened and made some of the sound clips longer. I think at the end of the task I think my sound piece came out considerably well as we only had a lesson to do it. This would help me in doing my real thriller piece as I now know how to use the software and how to create suspense through the music and sound.
Also our class was very quiet today.
