Editing Day 5 + 6

We're finished!

Yesterday lunchtime, and today during lunch and our 3 hour lesson, we worked on our thriller and managed to finish it about an hour before the deadline. By today, most of our editing had been done - with just a few tweaks to add here and there. The hardest part about today was the music - we had the copyright free piece, but we had to cut it down (it was too long) and piece it together to try and make it run smoothly and fit with the thriller as best as possible. This proved a lot more difficult than I anticipated. We worked and re-worked on it, and in the end, we managed to get it to run as smoothly as we could - yet still not perfect. However, we asked a couple of people to watch and listen (without telling them that there was a slight "mistake") and they noticed nothing. Afterwards, when we told them there was a mistake, they still couldn't spot where it was. We knew, but that is because we've listened intently to the music, and obviously we know where it didn't flow - however, we are comfoted by the fact that if you're not really listening out for it, like we were - then chances are you wont notice a thing. Our teacher couldn't even tell, which was promising.

We thought of a title, too - "Bathory"

I thought of this last night, inspired by the true tale of Elizabeth Bathory - a story which has fascinated me for years. Bathory was a Hungarian Countess - and an infamous serial killer. The basic story is, during her lifetime, she tortured and killed hundereds of women - no one really knowing the real reason. She was eventually caught and put under house arrest until her death four years later. This tale has been exaggerated, and stories have been made, with the most legendary one being that she bathed in the blood of young virgin girls in an attempt to retain her youth.

The reason I thought that this could apply to our thriller, is that, we know that the girl is summoning the devil to do her bidding - yet we hadn't thought of what "her bidding" was. We decided to have the girl obsessed with the story of Bathory, and summon the devil to help her carry on, or re-create Bathory's infamous tales.

None of this extra information is crucial to the opening of the thriller - but at least it provides a reason behind the strange Title that we chose.
